July 2022: 31 Activities for Every Day This Month

Welcome back to your actor activities roundup, where we bring you everything from worthwhile exercises to inspiring events for each day of the month. While a lot of the industry shuts down for the summer, here are 31 activities you can do this July to keep the hustle bursting like a star-spangled firework.

Advice & Inspiration:

1. If you haven’t watched Variety’s sparkling series Actors on Actors, then you are missing out. A fresh crop of episodes recently dropped, featuring legends like Jean Smart and Martin short interviewing each other.

2. Reap inspiration from those who’ve walked before you by reading 5 new memoirs from Viola Davis, Molly Shannon and more of today’s most prolific talent.

3. Listen in on Oscar-nominee Bradley Cooper’s intimate interview with popular podcast SmartLess, where he dives into his creative process, the struggles he’s faced and more.

4. This month’s Instagram account to follow is Actors Kit, which shares content that not only inspires actors, but aims to make the journey a bit easier.

5. Talent can only take you so far. That’s why it’s important to foster relationships and mine your unique skills to broaden your horizons. Tune into the latest episode of the official SAG-AFTRA podcast to find out how to create more opportunities for yourself!

6. Take some stress out of the line memorization process with the Rehearsal Pro app used by actors like Allison Janney!

7. Casting extraordinaires Kate Lumpkin and Joseph Hayes joined forces to create the brand new podcast “Is Not A Dirty Word.” Tune into their first episode where they discuss quitting!

8. Amy Schumer, Quinta Brunson, Selena Gomez, Tracee Ellis Ross and more join The Hollywood Reporter for a roundtable on their respective projects. Watch it here!

9. As the temperatures heat up, make sure you fight against one of auditioner’s biggest advisories: sweat. Pack extra clothes if you’re going in person, and have powder handy for virtual auditions. Sweat reads as nervous and you don’t want to put that vibe out there! Unless it fits the character of course.

10. Find out what it’s like to work on a Tina Fey show and more on The Art of Kindness podcast’s new episode with Mr. Mayor star Mike Cabellon. Plus he reveals an excellent hack for being a great listener both on set and in life!

What to watch:

11. Treat yourself to a fun binge with Stranger Things season 4 part 2! Netflix’s most successful series ever is back for a blockbuster ending to their new season on July 1.

12. Get your heart pumping with the Chris Pratt-led Prime series The Terminal List on July 1. Based on Jack Carr’s bestselling novel, the series centers on Lt. Commander James Reece (Pratt) who returns home after his entire platoon of Navy SEALs is ambushed, only to discover new dark forces working against him and endangering the ones he loves.

13. Is it summer without a major movie event? Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder rages into theaters on July 8, so pop some popcorn!

14. Best-selling novel Where the Crawdads Sing will fly onto screens July 15. Normal People’s Daisy Edgar-Jones plays Kya, a self-raised girl from the marshlands of North Carolina who becomes the prime suspect in a murky murder case.

15. Relish in Oscar-nominee Lesley Manville’s incredible craft as she leads Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris starting July 15.

16. Acting mavens Cristin Milioti and William Jackson Harper reunite after doing an Off-Broadway play together for Peacock’s genre-bending series The Resort on July 28. Exploring love and the weird things we do in the name of it, this show will pit you in the middle of a true-crime conspiracy.

17. Now for some A viewing. Pretty Little Liars births another incarnation on July 28, this time by Riverdale mastermind Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa for HBO Max.

Wellness Activities:

18. Enhance your craft while you enhance your vitamin D levels with these outdoor acting exercises!

19. Check out some mental health tips from Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink as she dives into mental health, imposter syndrome and more.

20. Explore the bountiful benefits of meditation, and if you won’t take our word for it, check out what Benedict Cumberbatch recently had to say: “[Meditation] has shown me how to better be in the here and now.”

21. Do you have ten minutes? Perfect! Then you can do this beginner yoga routine and get better connected with your greatest acting tool: your body.

22. If you seek a holistic approach to wellness, look into Goli’s Ashwagandha gummies. Backed by modern science, the ancient herb will help to reduce stress levels, support better sleep quality and, overall, give you a better life.

23. Practice positive affirmations each morning. Start by telling yourself that you are enough, because you are!

28. Plaza Suite starring real-life couple Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick also ends on July 10, leaving Broadway a bit less starry.

29. Another Broadway show to catch before the curtain comes down for good, on July 31, is Stephen Sondheim’s Company.

30. Emmy nominations will be revealed by JB Smoove (Curb Your Enthusiasm) and Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) via livestream on July 12!
