11. Violent Night (holiday action) in theaters December 2: Santa Claus is coming to town in a whole new light this year as he fights mercenaries to save a family on Christmas Eve. Stranger Things star David Harbour serves up some season’s beatings as the jolly ‘ole Saint in Universal’s dark comedy.
12. Spoiler Alert (dramedy) in theaters December 2. Jim Parsons, Ben Aldridge and Sally Field star in the film adaptation of best-selling memoir Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies.
13. Women Talking (drama) in theaters December 2: Women in an isolated religious colony struggle to reconcile with their faith after a series of sexual assaults. Already receiving Oscar buzz, the movie is stacked with stars, including: Rooney Mara, Claire Foy, Jessie Buckley, Judith Ivey, Ben Whishaw and Frances McDormand (who is also a producer on the film alongside Brad Pitt).
14. George & Tammy (drama) on Showtime and Paramount December 4: Move over Pam & Tommy, there’s a new power pair in town. Oscar-winner Jessica Chastain and Oscar-nominee Michael Shannon star as the Queen and King of country music Tammy Wynette and George Jones in this new series.
15. Avatar: The Way of Water (fantasy adventure) in theaters December 16: There’s highly-anticipated and then there’s James Cameron’s sequel to the 2009 megahit Avatar. Venture back to Pandora in this Zoe Saldana, Kate Winslet and Sigourney Weaver driven spectacular.
16. I Wanna Dance With Somebody (biopic) in theaters December 30: Whitney Houston’s legendary rise to fame is given the musical movie treatment in this joyous chronicle that puts Naomi Ackie front and center in the titular role.

A Man Called Otto (drama-comedy) in theaters December 25: When a lively young family moves in next door, grumpy widower Otto Anderson (Tom Hanks) meets his match in a quick-witted, pregnant woman named Marisol, leading to an unlikely friendship that turns his world upside down. Based on the bestselling book A Man Called Ove, this heartwarming story reminds us all to let life in.
18. BABYLON (drama) in theaters December 25: Damien Chazelle’s next work of whimsical dreamers drapes Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie, Jean Smart and more in 1920s Hollywood decadence.
19. Matilda the Musical (family musical fantasy) on Netflix December 25: Moviegoers favorite telekinesis tot is back, this time in musical form. Starring newcomer Alisha Weir alongside powerhouse performers like Emma Thompson’s Trunchbull, the flick is sure to be a fun holiday watch.
